Copper Scrap

Steel is an alloy, often with small amounts of other metals to enhance texture, strength, and hardness. Scrap categories include shredder, #1 steel, #2 steel, mixed irons, and cast iron.
While a magnet can identify steel, other magnetic materials like tungsten carbide and stainless steel (often 304) can be mistaken for it. Tungsten carbide, used in drilling and cutting bits, typically appears dull black or grey, whereas shiny or rusty bits are usually steel.
